Bringing Books Back
In a time when a book in hand is becoming rare and digital hobbies are taking over our everyday lives, Jugnu Library Walls is a small initiative with a big dream — to bring reading culture back.
A jugnu (Urdu name for firefly) may be tiny, but it spreads light wherever it goes. Inspired by this idea, Jugnu Library Walls aims to spread the light of knowledge, imagination, and learning through books across different communities in Pakistan.
We create colorful book reading corners and library walls in schools, neighborhoods, community spaces, and public areas where children can freely pick up a book, sit down, and read. These library walls are built with the help of volunteers and filled with donated books collected from people who believe that every child deserves access to stories and learning.
In many places, children love reading but simply do not have access to books or cannot afford to buy them. Through this project, we want to make books easy to reach, easy to share, and exciting to explore again.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one book to inspire a dream.
What We Collect
We welcome books in good condition, including:
• English and Urdu novels
• Story books for children
• Biographies and inspirational books
• Matric and Intermediate school books
• Educational and learning material
Build a Wall in Your Area
Are you a school, institute, café, or community centre that believes in the power of books?
You can become a part of Jugnu Library Walls by offering a small shelf space in your location — and we’ll help you turn it into a vibrant reading corner.
We don’t believe in perfection — even a simple shelf can become something beautiful. It doesn’t have to be new; we can repaint and transform it into a colorful Jugnu Library Wall, filled with books that we provide through donations.
All we ask from you is a small commitment:
• To take care of this space
• To keep it open and accessible for everyone
• To encourage children and readers to use it
• To occasionally share updates on reading activity
To make it even more exciting, we also introduce “Reader of the Month” from time to time — celebrating and encouraging young readers who actively engage with books.
